We are 100% Hawke's Bay owned and operated. Kate Lester is a local chef, and Paul Greaney is the local butcher, and both are born and bred Hawke’s Bay locals. Together they invite you to join them on this journey and learn what a great region we have by the wonderful products we can produce.
Born in Napier, and bred in the small country town of Takapau, CHB. I have always been involved in the meat industry. This all began with hanging out with Mum when she worked in the Waipukurau butcher shop. And this was to become the place I where I started my trade. I worked my way through the freezing works & supermarket arena. I then saw the light and chased my ultimate dream of owning my own traditional butcher shop. I purchased the Havelock North Butchery in June 2012 and rebranded it to The Village Butcher. I am passionate about quality local food, free range meat and great service. I will be the one sourcing and butchering only the best, freshest and free range meat for you and your family.
I was born and raised on a farm in Maraekakaho. This nurtured my love for eating and cooking fresh veges from the garden, and the best lamb chops from the paddock. My inspiration and philosophy comes from my Mum and Gran, who both have a firm belief in cooking everything from scratch and letting quality ingredients shine through. I have been bringing my food to Hawke's Bay through my catering company, Kate Lester Catering, for the last 3 years. I’m now looking forward to creating seasonal, and delicious recipes for you to cook at home.
