Time for a world tour!

Well, Cyclone Gita has been and gone, and it looks like those regions that took a battering will recover relatively well. I was a bit nervous when I heard the news that a cyclone was on the horizon, as it was only a year ago when Cyclone Cook hit us in Hawkes Bay, and wiped out a large portion of the vegetable crop.

The resulting shortage and price increase saw record high prices, and a very depleted variety of vegetables available. It has only been in the recent months we have started to see a recovery from this with the seasonal change happening. So, whilst I empathise with the affected regions, I must admit to being a little relieved that Hawkes Bay was unscathed this time round.

This week we have an awesome menu, with a mini tour around the globe, starting with the Mexican Chicken Drumsticks, before jetting off to enjoy the Thai Pork Larb, and finishing off with an Italian inspired Creamy Penne Pasta with Parmesan and white wine. The pasta we are using is made by Danny’s Fresh Pasta, based at The Old Church in Meeanee. It’s a fantastic artisan pasta, that’s made using natural ingredients and old-fashioned techniques. If you would like to try Danny’s full range of pasta’s you can find him at The Farmers Market’s most weekends.

I hope you have a great week, and enjoy the “global tour” inspired menu we have created for you. I am sure you will love it.

Happy Eating,

- Paul
